Orlando Auctioneer to Compete for International Auctioneer Championship Title

Orlando may soon be the home to one of the world’s best auctioneers if Richard Hart has anything to say about it. Hart will be joining over 80 auctioneers from across the nation in Overland Park, Kan. at the 60th International Auctioneers Conference and Show to compete for the title of IAC Champion. The male and female winners of this competition are regarded by the auction industry as being one of the best in the world.

Richard Hart is a GPPA-certified and Florida-licensed auctioneer. He has conducted over 3000 auctions; successfully yielding substantially high returns in his 25-year stellar track record, focusing on artworks from a wide scope of genres. He currently oversees the operations, sales and marketing of Baterbys Art Auction Gallery at Pointe Orlando in Orlando, FLa. He also consistently donates to charities and non-profit organizations because he sees this as one of the most fulfilling ways to give back to the community.

The IAC competitors are judged on their presentation, chant, voice timbre, body language, and other performance elements of effective auctioneering. Participants are also judged on their answers of interview questions. The finalists will compete at 7 p.m. Friday, July 17, 2009 in front of more than 1,000 of their peers at the Overland Park Convention Center. The two division winners of the IAC will receive a cash prize of $10,000, a trophy, and will represent the National Auctioneers Association as its spokespeople throughout the year.
